ZUMBA
ZUMBA® is a Latin-inspired, dance-fitness class that incorporates Latin and International music and dance movements, which create a dynamic, exciting, and effective fitness system! This class format combines fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body in an aerobic/fitness fashion to achieve a unique blended balance of cardio and muscle-toning benefits in a FUN way!
ZUMBA FAVOURITES
So you have been doing Zumba with us for a while and have your favourite songs, dance steps and routines.. we do too! We bring back the oldies that we have been dancing and enjoying for years. Let us know favourites and make it YOUR class; for you by you!
ZUMBA + ABS
A regular Zumba class with some functional abdominal exercises at the end. Bring your mat!
ZUMBA TONING
Shake it. Tone it. Rock it. The Latin-inspired dance fitness-party. Serious body sculpting for party animals. Want a rock hard body? Zumba Toning is a blend of exciting dance moves with body sculpting exercises using your maraca toning sticks. This class starts off with regular Zumba then we shake things up a bit with our maracas and create a real ZUMBA PARTY! Finally, we finish with an AWESOME abdominal workout! A mat is required for this class.
ZUMBA IN THE CIRCUIT
This is an interval training class designed to give you a total body workout in 30 minutes! Alternating between Zumba and muscle conditioning stations, in 1 minute intervals, this class is designed to get the maximum output from you every time you perform an exercise! Imagine firming your whole body while keeping the party vibes alive with Zumba in just 30 minutes! We then complete the workout with some functional core exercises and stretching. A mat is required for this class.
ZUMBA GOLD or ZUMBA for BEGINNERS
Designed for beginners and/or mature adults, this program will help improve your flexibility and cardiovascular strength. It addresses the anatomical, physiological and psychological needs specific to these populations. It can also be viewed as a lower impact version of regular Zumba.
ZUMBA BASIC STEPS REVIEW
You keep hearing about how much fun Zumba is and you are just dying to try it but you are a little hesitant. Or maybe you have been going to regular classes and feel clumsy and lost with some of the steps and you just wish you had a bit of one-on-one time with an instructor. Well this is the class for you! Come out to our Steps Review and learn all the basic steps to those rhythms you love; salsa, cumbia, bachata, belly dance. This hour also presents a great opportunity for the seasoned participant to fine tune some moves they already know as we explain what muscles are being worked and how to make all your Zumba moves effective and safe while still keeping the fun. This class is not a workout, but it is designed to enhance your workout and overall Zumba experience at Light Up!
ZUMBATOMIC
Statistics show that childhood obesity has been on the rise over the last 25 years in Canada, with no end to this current trend. Our Zumbatomic class will get your child moving and grooving, while getting focused and fit. This is a crazy-cool dance-fitness class for kids (ages 4 -12) set to hip-hop, salsa, reggaeton and more!
ZUMBA 4 TOTS
This program is very similar to our Zumbatomic program but created for 2 1/2 – 4 year olds. Get ready to have an amazing party with mom in this non-stop fun-fill parent and tot class! C’mon mommy and daddy let’s Zumba!
ZUMBATOMIC/ KIDS BEATS COMBO CLASS
Just take Zumbatomic and add some Drums Alive Kids Beats and you have this amazing program! Drums Alive blends the dynamic movements of aerobic dance with the pulsating rhythms of the drum. It is a unique sensory-motor program involving drum sticks, an exercise ball, and music. It is designed to give the mind and body instant feedback through continuous movement and rhythmical flow. Our kiddies in this class are super cute and they have a ton of fun!
ZUMBA GOLD FOR MOM AND BABY
Designed with moms and babes in mind, this workout is fun, upbeat and full of all those great rhythms you know from Zumba! Babies are content in their carriers as they dance with mommy by kicking their tiny feet! As baby grows and gains weight, the workout gradually becomes more challenging as mom grooves her way back into pre-pregnancy shape. You are sure to work up a sweat!
GROOVE
GROOVE classes are dance classes where you learn really simple moves inspired from a variety of dance styles like hip hop, urban, jazz, latin, krump, house, Top 40, african, bollywood, etc. You will learn very basic dance moves designed so that everybody can do them (no complex choreography!). Once you’ve mastered the basic move, you get to dance it your own way!
BALLROOM
Our European trained coaches, who have won numerous awards and competitions, are dedicated to teaching our young dancers the International Style Ballroom that is danced by many today, such as on Dancing with The Stars and So You Think You Can Dance. Internationally recognized are the dance forms taught at our studio and we do not over crowd our classes, thereby ensuring that all our kids get the attention that they deserve to be their best. Our coaches teach the syllabus required for our students to enter competitions at the Ontario and National levels.
The different levels in International Ballroom are as follows:
1. Pre-Bronze & Bronze – Beginner
2. Silver – Intermediate
3. Gold & Pre Champ – Advance
4. Champ – Champion
5. Professional
The dances we focus on are as follows:
Latin: Cha Cha, Samba, Paso Doble, Jive, Rumba
Standard: Vienesse Waltz, Slow Waltz, Quick Step, Fox Trot, Tango
We offer: group classes, technique classes, private classes and supervised dance practice sessions regularly.

EDGAR’S TONE
Let’s face it, we all want to transform our bodies. Well most of us do. We want “tighter ABS, firmer arms, slender legs, shapely butt..” you name it. Come to this class and get a fantastic approach to getting it all done! Instructed at a slower pace, Edgar gives you a workout to target all those areas you want to improve and more! But before you transform your body, remember you have to transform your mind. Psych yourself up and get it done right!
YOGA
Improve flexibility, increase range of motion and discover your alpha level. A relaxing way to end your day and calm your mind after an energetic Zumba class. This class provides the serene balance we all need for a healthier lifestyle and existence. Namaste.
